Taylor Swift on Friday donated $100,000 to the family of radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the lone fatality in a Wednesday mass shooting at a Super Bowl victory celebration for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lopez-Galvan's family set up a GoFundMe for the KKFI radio DJ, who was at the parade Wednesday with several relatives, KKFI staff told USA TODAY.
On Friday evening in Australia – near the time Swift took the stage for her first show in Melbourne – two donations of $50,000 were added with the note: "Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift."
A spokesperson for Swift confirmed to Good Morning America that the singer had made the online payments. A spokesperson for Swift did not return USA TODAY's request for comment on Friday.
Lopez-Galvan leaves behind her two children and her husband of 22 years, the GoFundMe says. The family had many relatives in the Kansas City area and they were very connected to different community causes and organizations, KKFI radio staff said.
"Lisa was celebrating the Chiefs Super Bowl Victory parade when senselessly killed," the GoFundMe says. "She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life. This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy. Any amount is appreciated."
Taylor Shift, NFL fans donate to GoFundMe
The GoFundMe for the Lopez-Galvan family had a goal of raising $75,000 when it was first created, according to the page. Swift's $100,000 donation quickly blew past that figure.
As of Friday afternoon, the page had raised more than $250,000 from nearly 3,000 donors.
In donation messages, some said they are fans of Swift. Many others wrote they belong to the "Chiefs Kingdom," while still more mentioned NFL teams from across the country, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Buffalo Bills, the Denver Broncos, the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers.
"I’m so very sorry for this sad and senseless loss − deepest sympathy from a Taylor Swift fan and a Buccaneer," reads one donation message.
Another post reads, "Bills Mafia is one with KC Chiefs today. Deepest sympathies for your loss. May her memory be a blessing."
Lopez-Galvan was a beloved, 'vibrant' local Tejano radio host
Lopez-Galvan is being remembered as a passionate advocate for Tejano music, a style she platformed on the radio show A Taste of Tejano.
She loved Kansas City and went to Wednesday's Super Bowl victory parade to be among other residents cheering on the team, KKFI Director of Development and Communications Kelly Dougherty told USA TODAY.
"Lisa was there because she loved the team, and she is part of this community," she said. "She wanted to be part of the celebration that a million people were at."
Lopez-Galvan could be found at the station every Tuesday evening behind the host microphone, and she brought her own vibrancy to every interaction at KKFI, Dougherty said.
"She was an incredibly vibrant and wonderful person, and we’re just gutted completely," she said.
